Sept. 18, 2008

DURHAM, NC - The North Carolina Central University volleyball team is still anticipating their first win as the Eagles prepare for this weekend's South Carolina State Spike-Fest in Orangeburg, S.C.

"The great thing I see from my team is the defense, both blocking and getting those digs," commented Crawford-Crooks, "They will finish strong at the end, and we have depth and versatility."

NCCU (0-12) is led by Avaniki Campbell with 56 kills and Nadia Hayes with 44 kills and a team-high of 29 blocks. On the defensive side of the ball, Rachel Lloyd leads the team with 103 digs.

"It's one match at a time I tell my girls, so this weekend we will be competitive and play our best volleyball," said Crawford-Crooks.

The Eagles will face The Citadel at 12 p.m. and Coastal Carolina at 5:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19. On Saturday, Sept. 20, the Eagles will take on Charleston Southern at 10 a.m. and end the day with Wofford at 3 p.m.
