North Carolina Central University freshmen Ashley Rogers and Tatiana Velasquez were successful in their first doubles match, defeating Winnie Quick and Tina Ruffin of North Carolina A&T, 9-7, during the 2007 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional Championship on Friday (Oct. 19) at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on the campus of UNC Chapel Hill. The doubles teammates will face the winner of the Wofford-UNC winner, Saturday at 8:30 a.m. NCCU freshman Ashley Rogers fell 6-3, 6-0 to Middle Tennessee State University's Claudio Szabo in a singles match. The 2007 ITA Southeast Regional Championship features 108 singles players and 64 doubles teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee. The event, hosted by the University of North Carolina, runs through Monday, Oct. 22.
