MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - The North Carolina Central University women's bowling team returns to Eagleland following two days of competition during the Jeannette Lee Invitational in Midlothian, Va. Dec. 5-6. NCCU freshman Laverne Jones, a native of Goldsboro, N.C., led the Eagles with a game high of 192 against Sacred Heart University.

Jones also led the Eagles with game-day high average of 164.3 and a total pinfall of 986.

The two-day competition incorporated one day of team competition and one day of bakers' play.

The Eagles participated in competition on Friday, taking on University of Central Missouri, Long Island University, Elmhurst College, Fairleigh Dickerson University, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Sacred Heart.

During the Elmhurst match, junior LaTia Blacknell (Durham, N.C.) also amassed a game high of 192.

During the second day of competition, they challenged New Jersey City University, St. Francis College, Adelphi University, Kutztown University and Bowie State in bakers' play.

As a team, the Eagles averaged 588.4 and a team pinfall of 2942, with 210 game high against Adelphi.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, they ended the weekend competition with a 0-11 record.

Following the holiday season, the Eagles will head to Laurel, Md. for the AMF Laurel Bowling Classic Jan. 23-24.
