TOWSON, Md. - Senior guard Holly Mahan (Francis Lewis H.S./Queens, N.Y.) scored a game-high 18 points and added six rebounds to lead Towson University (6-3) to its fourth win in the last five games, a 72-40 non-conference victory over North Carolina Central University (1-14) in the first-ever meeting between the teams at the Towson Center on Saturday afternoon.

Mahan made all seven of her field goal attempts, including a perfect four-for-four from three-point range, as the Tigers pulled away late in the first half to earn the victory. During the last two games, Mahan has made 14 of 21 field goal attempts, including 8 of 13 three-point tries. It was the seventh straight game in which she has scored in double figures. Led by 11 points from Mahan, the Tigers took a 36-24 half-time lead and never looked back as Towson shot 51.9 per cent from the field and forced 12 North Carolina Central turnovers. Using a 15-4 run over an eight-minute span, the Tigers upped their advantage to 60-34 with 7:17 left. From there, the Tigers held the Eagles to just two field goals in the final seven minutes to seal the victory.

Mahan was one of two Tigers to score in double figures as sophomore forward Kandace Davis (Laurel H.S./Hyattsville, Md.) added ten points and four rebounds. Sophomore guard Alexis Abraham (Riverdale Baptist H.S./Bowie, Md.) came off the bench to score a season-high eight points. Freshman forward Dovile Miliauskaite (Holy Cross Regional H.S./Vilnius, Lithuania) and freshman guard Omara Parker (Annapolis H.S./Glen Burnie, Md.) each recorded a career-high eight rebounds as the Tigers held a commanding 41-28 rebounding advantage.

Sophomore forward Jori Nwachukwu (Bishop McNamara H.S./Upper Marlboro, Md.) led the Eagles in the loss by scoring 12 points with eight rebounds and four steals. Junior guard Tonia Roundtree (Northern H.S./Durham, N.C.) added ten points, making five of eight field goal attempts. It was the Eagles' third straight loss.
