Day Two Results Of The 2007 Catawba College/Comfort Suites Women's Basketball Classic: Lenoir-Rhyne and Catawba prevail on Day Two of the tournament Salisbury, N.C. - Both Lenoir-Rhyne College and Catawba College prevailed on the Day Two of the 2007 Catawba College/Comfort Suites Women's Basketball Classic Saturday at the Goodman Gymnasium in Salisbury, N.C. Game One - Lenoir-Rhyne 88, Molloy 83 Four players scored in double figures for Lenoir-Rhyne (4-0), including a team-high 17 points from sophomore guard Jami Safrit (Hickory, N.C.), as the Bears remained undefeated on the season with the win over Molloy (0-4). Lenoir-Rhyne pulled out the victory despite 29 points and 20 rebounds from Molloy's Kymira Woodberry (Boston, Mass.). The Bears hit 37-of-46 (80 percent) free throws and forced Molloy into 25 turnovers en route to the win. Lenoir-Rhyne rallied from a 38-37 halftime deficit as Safrit scored 14 of her 17 points after break. Randi Bender's (North Bellmore, N.Y.) three-pointer cut the deficit to 68-64 with just over four minutes to go but L-R responded with a 10-2 run to push its advantage to a dozen (78-66) and were in control the rest of the way. The Bears' run was spearheaded by Safrit's six straight free throws. Sophomore guard Amber Holt (Charlotte, N.C.) added 14 points and sophomore center Jacquelyn Kremer (Sevierville, Tenn.) followed with 13 points to lead L-R. Game Two - Catawba 67, North Carolina Central 51 NeKeithia Howard (Macon, Ga.) led all scorers with 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds and was one of four players from Catawba (2-1) in double-digit scoring in the win over North Carolina Central (0-8). With the score tied at 38 with 12 minutes remaining, Catawba reeled off eight straight points over the next two minutes for a 46-38 advantage and never looked back. Catawba, which led by a least four the rest of the way, added another 8-0 run for a 59-44 lead culminated by Howard's three-point play with 3:32 left in the contest.
Catawba's defense held North Carolina Central without a three-point field goal on 18 attempts and to just 33 percent shooting (22-for-66) for the contest.
