The WVU Tech Lady Golden Bears improved to 10-8 tonight with a 71-49 route over NCAA DI North Carolina Central University at the Neal D. Baisi Athletic Center in Montgomery.

Tech opened the game with a 19-8 run keyed by senior Shy Wright's six points. NC Central would cut the lead to 19-12 with just over eleven minutes left in the half, but Tech would respond by doubling-up the Lady Eagles 22-11 over the remainder of the half to take a 41-23 into the locker room. Senior Kierra Wilkins led Tech with 13 first-half points, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. Jennifer Hukill led NC Central over the first twenty minutes with ten points.

Tech outscored NC Central 30-26 in the second half as the Golden Bears played their bench extensively over the final twenty minutes. Nine Golden Bears found their way to the scoring column, led by Wilkins' team-high 18 points. Senior Shantrelle Matthews followed with 17 points, while Marche' Westray and Wright with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Wright led Tech with nine rebounds and Westray added a game-high seven assists. For NC Central, Hukill finished with a game-high 21 points, followed by Latoya Bennett with nine.

WVU Tech and NC Central will meet again in one week when the Golden Bears travel to Durham, NC for a 2:00 p.m. contest with the Lady Eagles.
