Four former North Carolina Central University football players have been drafted to the United National Gridiron League. The developmental league for the NFL kicks off its opening season in February and will continue its games through April, concluding right before this year's NFL draft.

The four players are wide receiver Charles Futrell and running back Greg Pruitt, Jr. both going to Team Virginia, defensive tackle Tyris Rorie going to Team Louisiana, and tight end Christopher Edwards heading to Team Florida.

Futrell played for the Eagles from 2003-2006 and ranks 14th on NCCU's career receiving yards leaders list. With a total of 74 receptions turning into 1,181 yards, Futrell scored a total of 16 touchdowns. He was also the receiving leader for 2006, successfully collecting 51 receptions for 909 yards and eight touchdowns.

Pruitt is NCCU's all-time career rushing leader. During 2004-2006, he ran for 3,008 yards and scored 21 touchdowns. Pruitt had 1,103 yards and five touchdowns in 2004. In 2005, 1,172 yards and 10 touchdowns were achieved. In Pruitt's final season as an Eagle, he rushed for 733 yards which resulted in six touchdowns.

Rorie played in seasons 2003-2005 and has 17 career tackles.

Edwards's seasons for the Eagles spanned from 2005-2007. His receiving totals included 13 receptions resulting in 142 yards and two touchdowns.
