Coach John Fletcher began as tight ends coach at NCCU prior to the 2007 season.

Fletcher played his college football as an offensive lineman at North Carolina State University, earning the Outstanding Lineman Award and the Chris Semele Award as an outstanding senior in athletics and academics in 1999.

He graduated from N.C. State in 2000 with bachelor's degrees in biology, chemistry and pre-med/zoology.

Fletcher went on to play professionally in the Canadian Football League (2000) and the Arena Football League (2001-02).

Most recently, he worked as a middle school science teacher with Durham Public Schools for two years.
