NCCU ANNOUNCES FIRST DIVISION I BASEBALL SCHEDULE

DURHAM, N.C. - North Carolina Central University has announced the schedule for its inaugural NCAA Division I baseball season, which is highlighted by a home-and-home series with Duke University.

The 2008 slate consists of 48 games with 19 home contests at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The Eagles play 21 games against Division I opposition, including the first of two meetings with Duke on March 26 at the DBAP.

NCCU's home-opener falls on March 3 with a double-header against Saint Paul's College beginning at 1 p.m. The Eagles then play 17 consecutive home games from March 13-29, before hitting the road for their final 17 contests.

The Eagles are coming off of their first season of baseball since 1975. NCCU head baseball coach Henry White, the 2007 CIAA Baseball Coach of the Year, guided a squad consisting of 11 freshmen, four sophomores, three juniors and one senior to a conference record of 15-5, an overall record of 21-24 and the conference regular-season title.
