CHAPEL HILL, NC - The North Carolina Central University men's and women's cross country teams each finished in third place Saturday at the UNC Challenge in Chapel Hill, N.C. This marked NCCU's first cross country meet as a Division I program. For the NCCU women, Desinia Johnson placed the highest at 18th overall (21:07.50) on the 5k course while Aisha Brown (21:56.90) and Ashley Cooke (22:12.20) finished 20th and 21st respectively. On the men's side of the 5k course, Gerald Jones placed 19th overall (17:32.90) with Rashaad Lee (17:56.70) and Adam Cofield (19:13.90) at 20th and 21st. NCCU will return to competition on Sept. 8, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Pembroke Invitational. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
