LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA. - With over 44 teams competing in the collegiate level, the 13th Annual Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic concluded today. The North Carolina Central University cross country teams have completed the collegiate portion of the classic finishing in 17th and 20th place. With a total of 353 runners and 44 teams in the women's 5K race, the Lady Eagles finished overall in 17th place with a total run time of 1:42:57. Crossing the finish line at the Disney's Wide World Sports Complex first for the Eagles was junior Desinina Johnson in 51st place with a time of 19:12.10. Next to cross the line was junior Ashley Cooke in 103rd in 20:08.90, followed by freshman Dreanna Wallace (109th, 20:17.30), Lakisha Gantt (151st, 21:00.30), Sheldonia Simmers (206th, 22:18.80), Ambria Alexander (249th, 23:18.80) and Karol Holt (315th, 26:23.40). The men's team finished 20th out of 38 teams with a combined run time of 2:24.44. Sophomore James Kukat completed the 8k course in 26:11.50 earning a 19th place finish for the Eagles. Junior Brandon Jones finished in 108th (28:03.10) five runners down teammate Gerald Jones finished 114th in 28:07.80 followed by Quantae Holliman (208th, 30:30.00) Jamar Jones (244th, 31:42.70), Michael Edwards (250th, 32:08.30) and Jamal Davis (268th, 33:16.50)
