ROCK HILL, S.C. - North Carolina Central University sophomore James Kukat crossed the finish line 49th out of 122 runners during the men's competition at the Asics/Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C. Kukat posted a time of 26 minutes, 52 seconds on the 8k course to help the Eagles to a 12th place finish in the 14-team field. NCCU freshman Jamar Jones was the next Eagle across the line in 97th place (29:38), followed by junior Michael Edwards (108th, 31:48), freshman Lavonza Holliman (109th, 32:04), sophomore Charles Lindsay (118th, 33:46) and freshman Jamal Davis (119th, 33:52). The NCCU women placed 13th out of 17 teams. NCCU junior Ashley Cooke was the top Lady Eagle runner by placing 90th with a time of 20:30 on the 5k course. Fellow NCCU junior Desinia Johnson finished one second behind Cooke for 91st place out of 159 competitors. Lady Eagle rookie Dreanna Wallace finished 97th in 20:44, followed by senior Lakisha Gantt (129th, 22:17), junior Sheldonia Simmers (136th, 22:55), senior Ambria Alexander (149th, 23:48) and sophomore Karol Holt (156th, 25:23). Louisville won both the women's and men's team events.
