NCCU'S DAVIS RUNS SIXTH IN 60-METER DASH AT NEW BALANCE COLLEGIATE INVITE

NEW YORK CITY -- North Carolina Central University junior sprinter Christopher Davis placed sixth in the finals of the 60-meter dash at the eighth annual New Balance Collegiate Track & Field Invitational inside The Armory in New York City on Saturday (Feb. 9).

Davis, a native of Charlotte, N.C., posted a time of 6.70 seconds in the 60m finals, which included runners from LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Tennessee and Florida State. Davis advanced to the finals by recording the seventh-fastest time of 6.74 seconds in the preliminary rounds.

Another NCCU Charlotte, N.C. native, junior Will Scott, placed seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 49-feet, 1-inch (14.96 meters). The Eagles other top 10 performance was turned in by sophomore Mark Davis (Cape Coral, Fla.), who placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 24-feet, 1.5- inches (7.35m).

Other NCCU competitors placing in the top 20 were Brandon Jones in the 800m run (18th, 1:52.97), Scott in the long jump (19th, 6.84m/22-5.25), and the men's 4x400m relay squad (18th, 3:18.71).

On the women's side, junior Jessica Mills finished 11th in the triple jump with a leap of 38-feet, 10.25-inches (11.84m), while freshman Saqenda Dallas placed 24th with an effort of 37-feet, 0.5-inches (11.29m).
