Each month, the NCCU Department of Athletics will recognize one of its dedicated supporters and generous contributors with the naming of the NCCU Athletics "Donor of the Month."

The NCCU Athletics Donor of the Month for April 2009 is Dr. Edward Clemons, Jr., a NCCU supporter and dentist in Durham, N.C. Here is what he had to say in response to a few questions about giving to NCCU Athletics:

1) Why do you contribute to/support NCCU Athletics?

“I support NCCU Athletics because I realize that for some students, their participation in sports may be their only route to receiving a good education. Whether on scholarship or not, these student-athletes need to know that other people in the community care about them and their well-being. As a business owner in the Durham community, I am committed to supporting NCCU Athletics.“

2) Why do you think that it is important that others contribute/support NCCU Athletics?

“We know that athletics can serve as a springboard to inspire these young minds to strive for excellence and achieve greatness, so I am all for it, and I put my money where my mouth is. I challenge other professionals to do the same. I implore others to support NCCU and become a part of the North Carolina Central University Eagles family and community!”
