New to the Athletics Department Chris joins the Eagle Family as a Sports Information Assistant and Broadcast Media Coordinator. Chris Hooks joins the Athletic Department after spending the 2007-2008 Athletic Season as the Studio Host for the Pirate ISP Sports Network, where he updated East Carolina fans across the State and Nation on scores across the country, but it was Appalachian State where he got his start. Working as an intern throughout his four years at ASU with the Appalachian ISP Sports Network, Chris called various sporting events on the Mountain such as Baseball, Women's Basketball, and Volleyball, while also producing TV pieces for Appalachian Football Weekly, and Mountaineer Basketball with Houston Fancher. Chris also produced many highlight videos for the athletics department and contributed to the videoscore "Appvision". After Graduating from ASU in May of 2004, Chris got his first job as an Associate Producer for Sports at Mississippi State University. Shortly after that, Chris was called back home to work for the Carolina Hurricanes following the NHL Lockout. As a Producer he was a part of the 2006 Stanley Cup Champions. His role with the Hurricanes was Producer, and he also helped produce Telly Award winning shows for NC State Football, Basketball, and Various other RBC Center events. In April 2007, Chris decided that he wanted to do what he always dreamed of doing and that was broadcasting, and just a year or so later, he's right here at NCCU, looking to build the NCCU Sports Network into something that will market NCCU better than ever before as the Eagles soar into the realm of Division I Athletics. |
