Anthony Bennett, the former Associate Director for Student Athlete Support Services at Duke University joins North Carolina Central University and assumes the role of Director for Student-Athlete Support Services. Bennett will oversee the academic progress of all student-athletes at North Carolina Central University. He brings 12 years of experience working at three different Division I institutions. A native of Dayton, Ohio, Bennett joins NCCU after being at Duke from 2004-07 overseeing the academic progress of the Blue Devils football team. Prior to Duke he was at Tulane University where he worked for three years in the athletic department, the final two as an Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services. Prior to Tulane, he was an Assistant Director for Academic and Student Services at the University of Dayton from 1997-2001. Bennett earned his masters degree in Education with a concentration in Student Affairs from Wright State University. He was a four-year all-conference selection on the gridiron at Ohio Northern University from 1992-95, earning team MVP honors as a senior while serving as team captain. He then spent time as a graduate assistant football coach and worked in the office of multicultural development at his alma mater prior to his stint at Dayton. Bennett, his wife Fungai, and sons Caleb (3) and Noah (1), reside in Durham. |
